Idle Problems (IACV, Throttle Cable...)
When I bought my car, the IACV was evidentally shot. CEL on (14), and all. Bought one from Blundar put it on, and it was fine for a couple weeks. Now the CEL is back on, and it's making the car a bit jerky as well.
Another problem: My idle is F***ed. Half of the time it doesn't even register on the tachometer. I went out last night and tried to adjust the throttle cable as there was a bit of slack in it. It ran like a dream for the trip to the gas station. Was idling around 800. Got in it this morning, and it idles around 300. WTF! I try to adjust it more and more.. never getting it right. I finally get it to where it seems right and take it around the block. I come back a stop and it's bouncing @ 1.5k. I begin moving the (can't think right now.. ) ?throttle lever thing? and notice that it has play in it, and sticks a little.
If I let of the gas slow it will idle around 800-1100.. if I let off of it quick it idles real low.. ~300.
So.. the questions are: What is up with my IACV, and do I need to replace the whole throttle cable?

Re: Idle Problems (ccivic)
what happen when you unplug the ivac plug? does the idle settle down? have you been messing with the idle screw? if you did then your tps is out of spec.

Re: Idle Problems (2lua)
Yes. I have been messing with the idle screw. So how would I go about fixing this? Also: What about the throttle cable?

to adjust the idle screw. Start your car and allow it to warm up til it hits that sweet spot on the temperature gauge. then adjust the screw til you hit 750-900 RPM's depending on how u want it.

Re: (JDMlyfestyle)
My car will not idle that high... trust me I've tried. That's why I ended up trying to adjust the throttle cable.. which lead me to believe that I need a new throttle cable. How much(If any) slack should be in the throttle cable? The only way that I could get my car to idle higher than 300RPMs is to tighten the throttle cable so that it actually moves the throttle lever a tiny bit.

Re: (JDMlyfestyle)
I'm throwing code14 (IACV).. but I replaced it a few weeks ago and there was no CEL for a few weeks.. even then the idle was still screwed... now the CEL is back on for the new IACV .
So you think a new TPS would do the trick?

Re: (ccivic)
do not set your idle to the throttle cable... please... you'll never get it right.
what you should do.
make sure at close TB plate, your TPS signal shoudl be .5V.. WOT, 4.5V. this is a must. second of all, you should have your idle screw in all the way, IVAC unplugged, and adjust your ide to 500 RPM VIA the small 5-7MM allen screw at the bottom of the return stop on the arm to the throttle body. using some carb, or TB cleaner on the TB buttterfly woudln't be a bad idea either.
after that nut has been run up, and the TB is in specs, you can adjust your idle with the screw at the top of the TB, and then plug your IAVC in..

Re: (Built B16A)
Alright.. How do I check the TPS? I have a multimeter, yadda yadda. If it's bad.. I'm pretty sure my brother has a spare one.
And which allen screw are you talking about? The only one that I see is a big flathead.

You more than likely have a vaccum leak.

if your throwing a code for iavc than thats what it probably is.
I had the same problem after my swap this weekend. I fixed the wiring on the iavc and put wd-40 on the throttle cable and that solved my problem. but i'd take care of that cel.

Re: (cherroneballs)
I have fixed the IACV.. I completely replaced it.. CEL was gone for a couple weeks. I'm beginning to think that something else is causing it.. I'll let you know what happens after I adjust the TPS and such.
