idle problem help?

idle problem help?
i have a 00 ex auto and sometimes when i come to a complete stop my rpm idles close to 0, but never turns off. its been doing it for awhile, always idles low sometimes, but never turns off. and sometimes when i slow down then get on the gas, having rpm going back up (or downshifting), it back fires?
1.) low rpm, but doesn't turn off
2.) back firing when downshifting in automatic
help?
