Idle problem.....
Whenever I start my car (d16y7) it will idle at like 2,000 rpm until the motor gets warmed up. even if its not cold outside it does this. any idea what could be wrong??

Even if it's not cold outside your engine still needs to warm up.
But isn't 2k still kind of high?
My old EK use to have one messed up cold idle. Used to idle at about 2900 at startup.

2k is kinda high. When its all warmed up where does it ide at? if it idels at 750 then dont worry about anything. Fast idle valve is just idling it high at startup.

Re: Idle problem..... (jdmstreethatch)
Mine hits 2000 when I start it then it drops to 1400 until it's at full temp where it idles at 700-800. It's normal as long as it doesn't stay there.

The D16Y7 did NOT come with a FITV....so don't bother looking for it.
And since your dealing with a 3-wire IACV, troubleshooting and setting the idle is different than with a 2-wire IACV. 2-wire IACV's you can unplug and this causes them to close down thus cutting off the additional air it was supplying to the manifold, but unplugging a 3-wire does NOT yield the same results, in fact, your idle speed could increase by unplugging it.
Have you tried using some throttle body cleaner and spraying it into the IACV? I had ~175k on my IACV (stock 99 Cx hatch) when she froze on me (quite cold out). Went ahead and sprayed it good while trying to maintain an idle. It eventually free'ed itself up....so its not like its the correct fix, but its been working for 15k miles now.....I do expect it to quit on me sometime.
Do you have any mods or did you do any maintenance recently?
