Default idle not right

ok this is my problem, I'll try to explain as best as i can. To start off i have an em1. The car has the stock b16a2. The idle is very screwed up, it idles at 1600 sometimes then another time it will idle at 1200 and it will move between there. When im in neutral and i rev it the needle will come back down to where its supposed to be but then go right back up to anywhere between 1200 and 1600. Thats not really too serious but every 30 mins probably on average and it only happens when im stopped. The check engine light will come on then the car acts pretty weird when i try to drive normally, it will buck like a sailor was driving with a wooden leg. So i have to give it more gas and once i get in 4th i can hold the peddle down and its ok till i can get somewhere to stop and disconnect my battery then reconnect it to reset the code. This is driving me nuts! please someone help, sorry if its not a clean explaintion but i tried !

Have you had the code checked yet?

Alot of people have been having idle problems lately. Most common culprit is the IACV... idle air control valve. Type IACV in the search box and look at all the people who have posted on here who have had the same problem and how they fixed it. Most likely just needs to be cleaned. Easy fix if so. Hope this helps.

Or I've heard of people having problems like this when their primary o2 is going bad. Check into this also.

oh and one more thing. I blew my head gasket not long ago and i had it fixed. When i got the car back this happened, could a blown head gasket cause and dirt or gunk to get in there? I drove it around the block with it smoking, it happened just before my house.
