idle jumping
Hey when ever I turn on my lights, turn up the volume on my CD player, use the fan, or use the windshield wipers my idle will jump around. It does not effect me when I'm driving but if I come to a stop the idle will fall and the raise. It just plain annoying more then anything. I have heard it could be my idle control valve and that I need to clean it. If so...how do I do that? And where is it? Do I need to know anything ahead of time so I dont damage it?
If you think its something else...please share your mind!
Thanks

Re: idle jumping (madmortar)
does it JUMP, or does it slightly rise and fall?
your IACV/FITV could need a cleaning
check your battery/alternator/GROUNDS first, though.

Your iacv is located on the back of your intake manifold and is held on with two 12mm bolts. Unplug it first before you take it off. Go to advance or auto zone and pick up a can of Brake Parts Cleaner, or equivalant. Once you have the iacv off, spray it down on the inside where the two ports are and make sure you get all the black gunk out of it. Once your done, just let it sit and dry off before you put it back on.

heres how to clean the iacv, https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1564019 . If it does it when its cold it probably the fitv, warm then the iacv.

That link was for the FITV. 96 and older cars just have the iacv i think. Here is a link on how to locate and clean the iacv https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1575913 .

Re: (madmortar)
if it only jumps when you turn up your cd player, or turn on lights etc. things that require more electricity, wouldnt it be something to do with your battery or alternator rather than iacv?
