Idle high with no descent?!?!
Hey guys, well to start I'm new at posting, so if I leave something out you need to know let me know.
But okay well I have a turbo GSR swap into a 93 coupe. Well when I bought the motor it had the stock intake manifold and throttle body on it, well I recently replaced them both with Skunk2 parts. I went with the 72mm throttle body and the pro series manifold. Well before we put them on it ran fine. Well today when we finished and started the car it jumpped up to about 3000rpm and stayed there and started smoking right off the bat. Well we look and we had for got to hook up the two throttle body sensors so we hooked up and the same jumped up to 3k and stayed. I wanna say a sensor is out or maybe my idle is off, what do you guys think it is. Your help will surely be appreched

Re: Idel high with no decent?!?!
Sounds like a vaccum issue honestly. Or something just as stupid. Probably just forgot to put on a line or something. Double check everything, make sure there isnt a line hanging somewere, or an open spot on the mani were something SHOULD be. If it were a sensor, it would most likely be throwing a CEL.
Sounds like something I did about 2 weeks ago. Ended up being a Vaccum line I forgot.

Also check whether the throttle cable is adjusted too tight (should have 1/2" of slack) and whether the throttle body is dirty and sticking open.

I know its not the throttle cable cause when you start the car you can walk to the throttle body and move it to the closed position and its still high revs.
There was one spot on the manifold we where not sure what like went there Ill get a pic today but its the one on the top right. Its very tiny and only have one small hose that we didnt know where it went so we just assumed. also if there is a sensor with two vacumme hoses on it what would happen if you put swapped them by accident?

okay maybe we are talking about two different things. What I did was make sure the flap was closed and it was. Is that what your talking about maybe the throttle cable is to tight holding the flap open?
this is the one spot we are not sure about. I believe the hose running to it is the one that would normally run to the butteflies. But we do have a line from the charcole canastor that isn't hooked up that about that size but its not long enough.

Re: Idle high with no descent?!?!
Is there about 1/2" of slack in the throttle cable when the gas pedal is not pressed?
If you place your hand over top of the throttle body at idle, can you kill the engine?
Is the disconnected hose sucking air from the intake manifold?

Did you set up the TPS properly when you swapped it to the new Skunk2 one? You need to calibrate the sensor when you install it.

Re: Idle high with no descent?!?!
Okay yes when it smoked like she did we took the head apart to see if it was a head gasket and it wasnt bad at all well while rebuilding it i found this hose that ran to the butterfiles hooked it it..and fixed the idle, still alittle high but its about 1200rpm i think it could be cause it might be alittle out of time from piecing things back togather..so i am going to get her timed soon..oh we also did clean the sesnor on the back of the manifold, not sure which on it is though..but i did do the tps sensor, cause i watched the video lol. Thanks guys
