Idle adjustment screw
The idle on my beater has been going back and forth between 200 and 800 or so and people think im' trying to rev on em so i'm trying to increase it. I've turned the idle screw 3/4 of a turn clockwise but it hasnt seemed to make much of a difference. I think the IACV may be bad but i've dumped a lot of money into this thing and it's just my beater so if i can fix this by adjusting the screw i'd be much happier. Am I turning it the right direction? How much further should I turn it?

if it is in fact the iacv, i dont think the idle screws gonna help you any.
but goodluck, i've got a similar idle problem myself.

This is correct. Think about it. Turning the screw clockwise (in) will close off the idle circuit letting less air in reducing idle speed. Turning counter (out) opens the idle cicuit letting more air in raising idle. When doing this the iacv should be disconnected. The fluctuating idle make me think vacumn leak though.

thanks nub, it appears to have worked
I checked the voltage between the yellow and ground and it checks out. It only seemed to do it when I got up to operating temperature and I didnt get quite there just idling in my driveway but close.
I'm gonna check it on the road when this damn rain clears up. Next up to fix: leaking roof
Rains down here in jacksonville can get torrential...it's the hardest rains i've seen between MD, NC, TN, GA and here. If anyone has any suggestions to stop this kinda rain from getting in a del sol top i'd love to hear. I've put vasoline on the seals (car's been sitting a while but did use to leak before) and I belive my ex-father-in-law tightened it down but i dont think that's helped (and has actually caused me to break the handle off on that side ). I seriously doubt i'm the first one to have these leaks so i'm gonna search around...car doesnt have AC and this moisture can cause some serious fog on the windshield

Re: (MMMm Waffles)
they make an oem aftermarket kit for the targa, to stop leaks. but its gonna run you about 250 and i hear it really doesnt help much anyway. Just buy a car cover, but you're gonna be screwed for the drive haha.
