idle and accel problems HELP
ok just swapped a d16z6 into my civic. it has a erratic idle jumps between 1000 and 1500 rpms, i try to accelerate and it seems to have no power. i disconnected the iac to adjust idle rpms and seemed to have no effect to it when i turned the screw. noticed a little white smoke coming from cat but am assuming its just dust since the car sat for about a year any help or suggestions? oh and have a leak in exhaust so can't hear if vtec is coming on or not
vac leak? spark?

Check to see that you don't have your IACV and IAT connectors swapped.

under the TB should be two coolant hoses you get them mixed up during hook up??? also check your TPS make sure its adjusted properly, and bleed your cooling sys of any air that might be in it

Re: (chickenwing)
i used throttle body cleaner my idle was messed up and when i sprayed a little on the intake mani where it connects to the head the idle cleaned up and went to normal until the spray was gone just spray it around the im the throttle body and on your hoses to find out where its at.
now i gotta pull the head cause i think the head gasket is gone

on the block the upper coolant hose theirs a little tit where the hose meets block you loosen it up coolant and bubble will come out the hole you have to do it while its running and has reached norm operating temperature
and yes sometimes those hoses get mixed up and it will screw everything up lol I DID IT ONCE! LMAO

Re: (duefuss)
well i swapped the head on it to try to fix it. now the vacuum leak at the im is gone. but i've still got one somewhere else its idleing at around 1500 with the iacv unpluged. and when i swapped the head now my crank seal is leaking oil so i can't realy look for the prob. i will update when i can. but would the fact that the head has only got 200 miles on it since it got a valve and resurface job be the suspect of the seal going out?
