Identifying Heads
Does anyone know how to identify Z6 and Y8 heads? I am going to pick up a head that I was told is a Y8, and I just wanted to be sure. I know there are casting marks but I don't know where they are located and which ones to look for.
I searched and found nothing conclusive on this. If someone knows how and answers this thread we should put this in the FAQs. (I looked there also )
Thanks.

well, for one, you can tell if its obd1 or obd2 by looking at the casting number above the number 3 intake port, will be p2p(y8) or p08(z6), if that doesnt help, just pull the valve cover if theres one on it, and look for the LMA's or count the lobes on the camshaft, or look for the vtec solenoid, or pressure switch.

Thank you, the casting numbers is exactly what I was looking for.
