Default Ideas for the track...

I'm running the car thursday for the first time with the swap, and the 2nd time ever. Last time was D16Z6...17.1 17.0 16.9. Sucks ***, but I'm used to street launches, which I found WAAAAY different than track launches....plus my **** is lowered on Tenzo springs/stock shocks. And since then, it has wheel hopped bad. But, now I remember to take 1st gear real easy.

Car is in sig. Fully loaded, including spare.

Plans for track: (If you guys think anything is unessesary, let mt know. I just want to have the best shot possible.

COMPLETELY GUT. Everything except roof, no pass seat either.
Remove driver headlight
lower front tire PSI
Borrow stock P30/PR3-JO1 ECU
Install the 5 sp cams I have
remove exhaust from manifold back
run open throttlebody
run no hood. or cover my hood with faux metal covering.(it's an aluminum appearing ahesive, but it's color would deflect heat. It's permanant, and my hood will look ball burnished aluminum.
Fold mirrors in.
take that "lip" off

The cams/ECU may or may not be installed, depends how I'm feeling. So, having an auto spec cams B16 with LS tranny presents some evils I will have to endure.

Auto specs start running short of breath before 8000, and the LS tranny is very long. Even shifting to 2nd at 8000 puts me well below VTEC, and without a good ECU tune, I have a HUGE difference in VTEC/below VTEC. I have found that I can shift at approx 8500 in 1st to remain in VTEC, and about 8200 in 2nd to keep VTEC in 3rd, but the motor hates 8000+ on the cams, and it's wasted energy.

So, which evil is lesser?

Shifting too high, not getting any power, but staying in VTEC?

or

Shifting at power peak, but falling into non-VTEC sluggishness.

Like I said, since the ECU is really not for my motor, the tune is so bad, that VTEC is very loud, and kicks harder than it should. There is a flat sopt between 5-6 K. On the best tunes you can't feel VTEC, and it's kick over shouln't be noticiable.

Since your going all out, inflate your back tires to the max psi, put some ice on the intake mani, let the motor cool(not cold) in the staging lanes and try different launches. Good luck mang

striping out the car wont make that much of a difference plus for every 100 pounds lost u knock off 1 tenth of a second i recomend trying to launch at several different rmp ranges cause the track is much stickier
