Icu making clicking noise
My wife is driving my 96 civic ex and she noticed a clicking noise coming from user dash while driving. I figured it was flasher going bad since turn signals would occasionally not flash but burn constant. When I tried to feel vibration from clicking by touching relays on fuse "box", I felt no vibration. I touched the black box on back side of fuse box I could feel the clicking. I used this site to determine this was the ICU. Now my ? is what does this box do and if it fails will it leave my wife stranded. I have found the ICU online and if ordered won't get til end of week. Also any special precautions needed before I remove ICU. I figured that unhooking battery would suffice but not sure about airbags or other electrical stuff that could be affected by removal. Thanks

ICU ? I think you mean ECU but that's on the other side not the driver's side. so you're hearing clicking from the fuse box under the dash correct ? that would not cause the car to die suddenly. the only other thing that can click is the main relay does the car start up fine/drive fine ?

Re: Icu making clicking noise
I found a post that had a pic of a black box the size of a deck of cards on firewall side of fuse box. Said it was integrated control unit. That's where clicking is coming from. Civic is five speed and everything is working. Fires right up and gets drove about 85/90 miles a day. Thanks for response

Ok read a bit more about it my self, no it would not cause the car to die on you randomly. it can cause some electrical problems however you can disconnect the battery terminals to be on the safe side.
