Try unplugging your ecu and battery for about ten to twenty minutes

or pull the 15 amp fuse for "F/E" from the fuse box under the hood for 30 seconds and put it back in. this will reset the ecu without loosing all your radio settings etc....

argh people need to search first, this topic has been beaten to death.
1- it's not iavc, it's iacv [idle air control valve] it regulates the amount of air coming into your engine when the throttle body is closed.
2- I'm pretty sure em1's do not have egr.
3-you could try to clean the iacv out with carb cleaner but the code will come back. It's just the way it is.
4- buy a new iacv from honda and install it. To install it is simple. Two 10mm bolts and two coolant hoses attached to the iacv. Once you remove the hoses, coolant will spill so plug up the hoses with the two 10mm bolts. Make sure to get a new gasket with th new iacv. Installing the new one is the reverse of above. BLEED YOUR COOLANT SYSTEM, there is air in the system and can cause erratic idling if you don't.
5- reset your ecu after all of this is complete, problem solved
