Default IAT sensor trouble

i have a problem with my iat sensor i have already tried 2 diffrent sensors and it still the same problem. i have no power.
i have checked voltage from the re yellow wire and i have 5.0 volts.
i checked continuity on the sensor before and after i drive the car and the ohms drop as the temp rises.
but the thing that is weird. when i drive my car completely cold like 5 am this morning it has its power but as soon as it gets to operating temp the problem come again.
the best way to describe it is when i put my foot down its as if i am flooding my engine and i need to throttle it precisley to get it to move right.
well if any one can help me out then please.
here are the specs.
96 dx hatch with a 96 spec gsr swap stock everything.
i tried using my old iat sensor from my d16y7 and this is when it seems to run better in the moring but with my gsr iat sensor it runs like ****.

ps. i am getting a chipped ecu is there any way to bypass this sensor or do i really need it.
but i plan on going turbo in febuary so will i need it for a tune.

I bet you have the TPS and the MAP sensor plugs mixed up. Common problem when switching from vertical throttles on the Y7 to horizontal throttles.

As for the IAT sensor. Usually the wire colors are a red/something and a green/something.

Also, the Y7 IAT sensor has a different plug on it than the GSR.

and i dont have the sensors mixed up.
but do u think u can tell me the colors of the tps and map sensors so i can double check

if you had them mixed up, you wont be able to drive your car. on the gsr the iat and the evap purge solenoid is close together, so maybe you have those switched.

Did you ever actually get a new plug with wire or are you still trying to fix that broken plug? Make sure if you wire it up you wire it correctly.

no it works but i think the sensor on the gsr went out so i put the old iat back in to see if it would work and it does but only when my car is cold but right now i made a hole in my intake to see if i need it in there to work properly.
thanks for chiming in though.
so far everyhing is fixed except my 02 still but by next week i wiil be obd1.
i was wondering if there is any way to byass the iat sensor because i am having my p06 chiped and it issnt sen out yet.
do u happen to have a 0bd2a to obd1 jumper by any chance

Even if you chip the ECU the IAT is to important of a sensor to cancel out so there wont be a feature for that.

Dood, just swap the TPS and MAP plugs. Not having the IAT will not make the car run that bad, but it a very important sensor. The ecu can not calculate air flow without temperature.

Ideal gas law. You need pressure and temperature sensors.

okay well on the way i figured since maybe when my car is cold and my idle is higher thats why it runs better si i am ging to try and adjust my idle and see what happens.

Did you fix the IAT yet? If not do that then come back. Dont reuse your plug its trash.

yes its all wired coorectly.
but i dont throw the code.
when i jump it from the connector under the passenger side it doesnt come up.
i might go to autozone and hook it up to a scanner.
i checked voltage going into the sensor on the red yellow wire and i got 10 volts so i might have it to the wrong plug because,i dont know if u remeber but there was a plug right next to the injectors that wasnt plugged in. and the wire colors are the same as the other plug and its the same type of plug.

get the obd2 pinout and test the pins in question

lots of the wires off the ecu are used for multiple sensors

im going though a wire issue myself going to repin the whole damn engine harness and ecu connections..

i dont believe the IAT has voltage going though it, i know it uses the IAT pin on the ecu and possinly sensor ground, one of the 2 -- who knows if these pins are actually different.

in the helms it says the red yellow wire should have 5.0 volts.
but i got the pin outs and will check the continuity right now on my lunch break

What makes you think it's this sensor if you're not throwing a code? You definitely have a couple plugs switched around. Probably not the IAT. Map and TPS more like it. Why are you so stuck on the IAT being the issue when there's no code being thrown?
I've done easily 40 swaps and only seen them go bad by breaking them off by accident. lol
