IACV Question
Wuddup Fellas,
I have recently been writting you guys about my dying d16z6 motor and have since replaced the rotor button, distributor cap, wires and plugs. Though you can tell that the parts were well needed it still seems that the car is not putting out like it should. SiRacer suspected that it may be the IACV and I plan on getting this checked out in the morning. I was under the influence that the IACV was the idle air controller, but it seems to be something different. Could anyone help me out in telling me more about this part and how I should go about getting it checked out? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: IACV Question
the IACV is the idle air control valve....what it does from my understanding of it...is it keeps a vacuum when the throttle body is closed so the engine idles....if you were to take it to the rev limit and let off, instead of it dying out the iacv controls how much air it lets in the intake and keeps the motor idling where it should until the throttle is open again...most the time you can take them off and clean them, and they will work fine.

Re: IACV Question
I agree with^^^^ you can clean it out with brake or carb cleaner. If your z6 is not putting out I don't think the iacv does very much when in wide open throttle.
