I want to change a timingbelt and have a ? about my auto transmission in my 97 lx sdn
Ok, so I am pretty sure I need a new belt put in. Is it hard to do? In addition, my auto transmission slips in 1st gear, I think the 1st gear clutch pack is tosted. I can put it into 2 and get it to go 2-4 gear. How long do you supose I can drive it like that? Anyone else hear of this happening? I thought these were the best cars made?

I put a timing belt and water pump on my d16Z6 with this write up. https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...ng+timing+belt
I'd never done one before but I thought it was very easy, I actually enjoyed it. your d series is different then the one used in the link but maybe you can use this for reference. you might want to find a Chiltons for the correct torque specs if they are different from the z6. hope this helps you out. good luck!

id rather do a tb on a single cam than a dual cam, you dont have to worry about a second cam...

biggest task is getting the crank pulley bolt off. get a shop to do that, then slightly tighten it to get you home. rest is a breeze

Yea, to get the pulley off, i would recommend buying the tool. Heres one link, you can search around other places.

You can spend over an hour trying to get the pulley nut off, or you can just spend the $40 on the tool, and it will come right off and nothing will be broken. Plus the tool works on a bunch of honda/acura if i remember correctly, so you can "rent" it to friends and make your money back.
