Probably coming here in 2006. Crazy looking piston. I'm wondering if performance companies will take the new i-VTEC-i into account and make upgraded pistons using the OEM dome, or maybe upgrading the dome to allow more fuel to enter the pocket and yeild more compression. Seems like great engine, but a little too many things going on at one time for my taste. Something is bound to **** up sooner or later, and might be pretty costly. Plus, that VTC mechanism seems as if you can advance/retard ignition soo far. Don't think it'll work well with turbo/nitrous applications. Could be wrong though.

High compression has the same drawbacks in this case. Predetonation would rape the **** out of an engine with a fuel injector seated in the combustion chamber. I dunno, I've been wrong like one time before so maybe this is the next big performance revolution in mechanics.
I know direct injection is already popular, but the lean-burn issue is really freakish to me. Meh...time for some research.

I don't know the torque or gas milage figures, but 156ps is almost the same as 156hp.

But why in a twin-cam platform? I bet they can make all that into a SOHC and probably yeild more gas mileage.
Then again, they were aiming for both performance AND efficiency.
