I think my ignition is broke...

So I get off work and I get in my car and put the key in... The key turns about a half of an inch and that's it... It doesn't even turn enough to be able to turn on the radio... My friend and a couple of other people (including a worker at AutoZone) said that it's most likely the ignition. My friend said this was common and it's easy to replace... Should I go ahead and try to replace it?

i would definitly go try another key before i replaced my ignition.

if you dont have a spare goto the dealer with your vin # , reg, title, insurance, and they will cut you a new one given its the same stock ignition the car came with.

well i'd try to save some money & dissassemble it. & mess with it. if not it's only gonna cost you like $40-60 for a new one but the badd thing is if you car only has one key for all your lock's you'd have to have 2 seperate key's

they can code it for about 80 bucks.

but you dont need the whole ignition. you just need the cylinder that plugs into the ignition. maybe you can find a junk yard that still has that piece intact.

the dealer codes them for you.

or you can use 2 keys like i used to do.

its better in my opinion.

i used to let my car warm up outside my house with 1 key in the ignition then lock all the doors and go inside so i dont freeze, and open the door with the 2nd key.

so it has its benefits.
