I think the cable to my fuel door broke! help!!
I just went to get gas and pulled the lever to open the fuel door and I think the cable snapped. The door didn't come open and I need to know 1. how do I go about replacing the cable, 2. how do I get the door open so I can get some gas in the meantime? I have enough to get home tonight, but not enough to get back to work tomorrow. So, I need to fix this tonight. Can anyone help? I searched but found nothing. Thanks in advance! Oh yeah, I drive a 96 hatchback.

i dont know how to fix that but to open it you could do kinda like the credit card trick in the door and just be able to push the pin that holds it in down and move the cover open. Hope that made sense.

Your going to have to pull the quater trim inside to get at it. That is if you already know it didnt pop at the leaver. You could try just taking the cover off at the leaver and pull on it with a pair of plyers (not the cover the cord!). If you know its toast futher in take the upper seat back out on that side an pull the whole pannel you should have all the room you need at that point to get at the linkage. Pop it ,gas up an take a trip to your dealer to get a new cable and or what ever else broke. Let us know how much trouble you had!!!

Hey thanks alot! I will try my luck at the handle first and work my way from there. I will definitely post how it went after I get in there and get my hands dirty!

HI. I do not what model and year of your car but I suggest that the simple task you should do is that you should go to the trunk of the car at the side of where the fuel/gas tank is located. Snap out of the clips around the inner position of the trunk, trace the cablle that leads to the fuel/gas tank from the handle pull lever inside the car. There is a bulb head, you will it is the exact one when you feel with your hand, turn it anti-clockwise and pull, your fue/gas tank will be opened. I hope this helps.
