Ok i have a 2000 EM1 when i got the car it had a check angine light for a 02 sensor bank 1 catalic convertor i replaced the 02 with a new universal one and the check engine light went off for about a day then it came back on i check the codes and this time was a Bank 1 sensor 1 so again i buy a new (universal) one and did the same thing the light came backi was told the wires go as such

OEM ----Univ.
white to black
white to black
green to white
Black to grey

i might be wrong but whats the proper way to wire up an universal 02 sensor to the OEM plug. does anyone have a wire schematic?

if I'm not mistaken, your Civic should have TWO O2 sensors. You may have replaced the one that was still OK.

Nope...lol in the original post i stated i replaced the catalic converter one 1st then the light came back on and then i replaced the front one so i have replaced both....lol

Well you may have a bad cat but to check the wiring: You should have two wires that are the same color on the sensor, you should also have two wires that are the same color on your plug, these wires get connected. You should have a ground wire on the plug, you should have a wire on the sensor that has continuity to the metal casing these two get connected, connect the remaining two wires and your good to go. I am assuming you have a multi meter to test this if you don't get one , or just hope the chart they gave you was right.

mayb you should stop buyin cheap **** and buy oem ones less prolems

Yeah less problems alot more $$$ between both "OEM" were +360.00 and universal were 120.00 for both someone has to know the wireing diagram for the universal and is not about buying cheap **** because the O2 sensors are the same the diffrence one has the OEM connector the other one doesn't. they are bosh. Isnt HT for helping people fix things?

did you read my post i told you exactly how to do it the right way so you know for sure you hooked it up correctly.BTW I am not really sure what you meant about the same, but different brands of o2 sensors are def. not all the same. For example bosch is crap. Don't go cheap when it comes to o2 sensors.

i think you caused your own problems by going cheap with a universal. you can get oem parts from hondaautomotiveparts.com for a lot cheaper then the dealer. i have also had good luck with sensors through ebay as long as they are brand name and made to fit your vehicle. trying to save a few bucks initially always ends up costing more in the long run because you always have to replace for the proper parts. cant cheap out

yes it is, but we also have our opionions. OEM is the way to go with dealin with this kinda stuff. cars are not cheap dude, sorry but its reality, sometimes we just have to suck it up and pay for what we know works

the code just means that is what the computer chose as the most logical problem.

depending on the specific p code it could mean the o2 sensor was slow to respond (bad sensor)...

...or it could be interpreting the accurate o2 reading as wrong because something else is wrong. (to much/to little fuel going into the engine per air which could be caused by a bad map sensor or IAT sensor, etc.) just to give you an idea.
