Default Alternator Help

yeah, I got my car back from a shop the other dya and the dumbasses didn't tighten the alternator belt enough. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to tighten an alternator belt down on a b16 and how much to torque it?

i dont think the tourque matters on the bolt just as long as the belt has proper tension.

loosen the bolts that would hold the alternator theres 2 on my d16 not sure on b16 then use your hand or a bar and push the alternator so there is tension on the belt but not too much you should be able to push the belt down about 1/2 inch when its tight then tighten the bolts and re check the belt tension.

from what i can tell your not very mechanicly inclined. just take a good long look at your alternator from the top and jack it up and look at it from under neath if you cant figure it out get a helm manual or something. there shouldnt be any wires you should touch just 2 bolts. once you loosen the right 2 bolts you should get it.

my advice is that you put your issue somewhere in the topic. then read the thing at the top of the forum that says "READ THIS FIRST"

if the belt is not tight enough it will squeal usually to let you know.

Loosen the top and bottom bolt slightly and the adjustment nut. Then take a long screw driver and pry the alternator away from you towards the firewall and tighten down the bolts.
