my car is at the dealer with a cracked head. i have 153,XXX miles on my 95 civic, d16z6 and my car was overheating and misfiring due to a bad head gasket.

the service advisor is trying to save me money by getting a complete new aftermarket head which usually go for about 600-800, while honda sells their complete head for 1900. and he is also looking for one with the same warranty as honda which is 12 mo/12,000 miles.

first off, id much rather get an aftermarket head for more than 1000 cheaper than honda. but im wondering if the aftermarket head will be the same quality as honda?

junkyard and pick one up for $200-300 and then send that in to a machine shop to get rebuilt, spend maybe another $200-300 and there ya go.

i would get another head from a junk yard, if your planning on upgrading then i was say it time to put a b-series in there
