How do you know it's not VTEC?

Many SOHC VTEC motors do not say VTEC on the cover.

To start, are the spark plugs on the front side or back side of the motor?

Do you see one of these on the left side of the motor? (On the back of th head)

p08 cylinder head cast is for a z6; mine had it stamped on the side. I think one or two other heads share that cast, but I honestly forget which. Maybe the d15z1 and d15b heads?

JDM D15B VTEC and the D16Z6 share the P08 casting. The D15Z1 is a P07.

That is most likely an internal Honda part or serial number. Last I checked the dealer can't even cross-reference it. You have the correct VTEC head if it is a P08 casting.
