I need help !! QUESTION ABOUT 92-95 CIVIC HATCH ECU SWAPS..
ok .. I have a 1994 civic hatch .. up until now I been doing only looks .. soo I decided to start putting all my attention to the engine .. my computer I think was a po5 or whatever my friend said (i know nothing about computer ****) and the redline was like 5,500 (COMPLETE GARBAGE AND MAD SLOW) .. now, my cars a single came non-vtec and my friend gave me a sohc vtec jspec computer and said it was a po7 or whatever he said .. now my redline is 6,500 but it feels a little weird .. sometimes at 4 grand It bumps a lil and jerks or **** .. also, from a dead stop SOMETIMES it feels like theres a slight delay fro the gas to the reaction on the car ..
now .. my questions are ..
is it safe to put a vtec ecu on a non vtec car?
is it true that a car has to get used to the new ecu settings ? like for exampe, it runs a little shaky now but the kid who gave the ecu to me said the car has to get used to it and itll run better
will there be any damage to my engine if I keep the vtec ecu on there ?
finally .. GIVE ME UR STRAIGHT OPINION ON WHAT I SHOULD DO WITH THE WHOLE ECU BUSINESS ..
thanks a lot im lost with this stuff :-(

You arent going to gain anything from putting a computer not specified for your engine in, and thats most likey why it doesnt run right. you didnt put a vtec head on so why would you run a vtec ecu.

Retain the stock p05 and with your d15b7, using a different ecu such as a p28 will cause it to run shitty due to the fact that the timing/ignition/fuel maps aren't made for the d15b, also you'll be throwing plenty of CEL's due to the few extra sensors the VTEC engines have, such as knock sensor, vtec pressure switch, and plenty of other tid bits. get a b series and start working from there.

nothing unless you run hella lean and your car may not run right due to more fuel at vtec....just put the stock one back and your motor will feel better.

Re: (cranberry)
I saved up A LOT of money and spent it on a k20a2 engine .. I got all the aftermarket motor mounts and my friend said he would put it in and everything but I dont trust him and some place said hed charge me 800-1000 to put it in and wire everything up .. this whole ecu business was to just make this redline better to hold me off until I got the big boy in :-\ .. guess that plan didnt work out too well lol thanks for the advice guys :-)

don't worry about the redline just worry about getting yourself from point a to point b, that will get you by, if you're thinking that an ecu swap will give you a little more kick, it won't, if you want to get a little more kick on your POS d15b7 get it dyno'd and tuned w/ more agressive maps for your motor. why bother? you got a k20a right? is it worth it to mess with your little POS motor because the k20a is what's it all about.
