I need Help Please...B18c bogging in VTEC
I really need some help from HT tonight. My gsr swap in my em1 has gone crazy. I drove my car on friday and it ran fine....then saturday night I decided to take it out and everytime I hit Vtec the car feelt like im hitting a rev limiter. It boggs and loses power. I have no idea what is going on....a couple things I did already have been to clean the vtec solenoid filter, I check my plugs...not sure why, I ran lucas fuel injection cleaner. I unpluged the vtec and the car feels like a weak ls motor. I have ran out of personal ideas. I need help from some guru's. I hoping some one has had some experience with this problem. Thanks

does it sound extremely loud when it goes into vtec...like a real loud intake? cuz somethimes a clogged catalytic converter will do this...and causes an enormous amount of backpressure and loses practically all power...i've had it happen on a friends car...just my $.02;;;

Ok its not his oil pump and its probably not his fuel filter and not a bad cat.

Do you mean the rpms wont go any higher at all when you hit vtec, or do you mean it has a loss of power AND rpm still goes up but the engine is just bogging down like it has a loss of some power?

Sorry for not explaining my self. The car hits vtec gets extremly loud to the point that everyone liooks, and then it loses power throught vtec. It will goall the way to 8k but its just really weak.

same thing happen to me except that i have a d15b vtec and my cat started clogging up real real bad where i could hear my exhuast leak before my cat.. i got on it and it felt like it had no power and then i hit vtec and it sounded like a b16 . then one day while i was driving the power just came back on its on in the middle of traffic like my car took a **** ........odd

I would check the primary O2 sensor as well. I had run rich for so long that I ruined my primary O2 sensor and my B18B would bog horribly. Not exactly the same as a Vtec B18C1 but similar concept as the motor will stumble of the ECU can't get a proper reading from the air/fuel ratio sensor(s).

check your air filter...now that u have explained it alil more..my EM1 does that like vtec is loud but has good bottom end but when it gets to higher rpm it just feels like its just revin and not goin anywhere...i took my air filter off and it helped alil...but when u figure it out tell me..but i also gutted my cat b4 i took off the filter and it didnt help at all..just made my exhaust REALLY deep...

To tell the honest truth. WHen I did my swap I was throwing codes not sure for what. I have a n obd1 jdm gsr in 00 si. Im pretty sure my o2 sensors arent working...could I have been running rich for too long and please someone sugest something for me to do. I am off this week so I have a lot of tiem on my hands.....How to I clean the cat anyway.

I noticed today that the car wont rev past 5 grand will im in gear. SOmetimes while im sitting I will try to rev it to 8k. Sometimes it will go to 8 and then most of the time it wont....Help please. Could it be the vtec solenoid?
