Default I need help lowering my 96 civic LX

Well all went well until i ran into the bolt on the suspension fork holding holding the arm..I'm using a 6 point metric socket and bathed the nut in WD-40...So besides going to my nearest sunbelt and spending 60 bucks to rent air tools...What could i do to get the dang thing loose it's the only thing holding me back from installing my new lowering springs. any help thanks. :]

Use a breaker bar and a cheater pipe if need be. Just be sure the socket is all the way on the head of the bolt so you dont round the bolt off.

bathe it down with pb blaster.. alot more effective on breaking stubborn bolts.
and hammer it lightly to make sure the pb gets in between the cracks.
use a breaker bar.

Heat works wonders to break rusted bolts! Try a torch if you can use it safely without melting/burning something else... PB should also be your best friend.

You have to be careful when doing this because if you over heat the fork the heat can travel up to the strut and cause you other problems. Another thing to be watch out for is the bushings in the lower control arm.

this problem is all too common
just be cautious, by the sounds of it you're gonna most likely break the head off the bolt.
the bolt is usually seized to the sleeve of the bushing
good luck

do what they said with PB blaster and a torch. If it doesnt work, if possible go buy a new bolt(might want to get one for each side and other ones if you think they are in bad shape) from the dealer. Then use a bolt removal socket to get it off and replace.

bolt removal socket (easy out or whatever) Ive used these on several totally ruined and rounded off bolts and they work great. find the one that will fit snugly, hammer it on, then put a wrench or corresponding socket on it.

Very good tool, used it few times. Try heating it up first heat is your friend in these cases.

Well, I did the impact gun trick..zipped right off..NOW the threads on the strut are worn off..This damn shock is straight up cursed, Or i'm starting 2010 on a bad note. Well tomorrow i'm going to my nearest Lowes to see about a threader tool. Anything else i should buy now that i'm going there? i just need the bolt to go at least 4 threads deep easily, Then i don't have to worry about the shock EVER again..Stupid me half assed it today and lost a whole day's of work it was only one thread deep and i couldn't push the arm down low enough for the suspension fork to correspond with the holes.

Well, Thank god i didn't have to do that..I borrowed my dads jack from his truck and put it on top of my brake and jacked away [Dirty minds] and that did the trick..Well tomorrow im not going to make the same mistake and use an allen key, I'm gonna zip em off with the impact. I'll take pics of my drop when it's finished
