I need help on a b18c1 swap into a 99 civic ex
Hi, i was wondering what all do i need extra or need to do extra with this swap. from my research i think i'll order my motor from hmotorsonline.com with the lsd and the hasport motormounts. Besides what comes with the package, what else do i need? I know i'll need a different exhaust and different headers. Will i need a bigger radiator? Wiring?
My budget is about 6k and i'm going to do the work myself.
Anyone who's done this swap please help!!!
Any opinions will help too!!!

Re: I need help on a b18c1 swap into a 99 civic ex (G2 Speed)
I've looked through those and nothing really explained much on extras that i need so that the car will run. It would be so convenient of someone could just go...
b18c into 99civic ex
you need...
brand x exhaust
brand y headers
some way to connect them
larger radiator or something
wiring
what mounts
ecu
something about 37mm to 32 mm bolts (i dont know)
certain tools
axle stuff
clutch
Many of those swap faqs are opinionated and arguments. I would like to see al list.
Maybe i'm just asking too much, sorry
i'm pretty new to the scene, all i wanna do is put a b18c into my civic MYSELF so i can finally learn a thing or two about the building side of cars but i keep getting the run around. each thing someone tells me to see contradicts with another one i've read or adds onto another one i've read. I have been researching for about 3 months now and i still dont feel confident with ordering things. I feel like i'm gonna leave something out and not know why my car doesnt run anymore.

your lucky, thats like the easiest swap. the wiring is plug and play if you have vtec already. you can use stock Si mounts if you want from the dealer so your dash doesnt vibrate like a ****

Check out my project EJ1 diary in my signature... It's my first swap, never done a swap before and that's my progression but i didn't order a motor from hmotorsonline, if i did it would've been MUCH easier.
As for what you need - For one, exhaust systems don't come with a catalytic converter so you'll need one because the flange on the civic cat is 2.25 or 2 flat and the GSR exhaust manifold has a 2.5 flange exit.
A soldering kit and some extra wire in case you need to rewire a few things that don't reach.
Some extra PVC piping for things like the vaccuum sensor, intake sensor, heater core piping.
You can use your stock radiator but I recommend a bigger one just because the outputs on the stock civic radiator are slightly smaller than GSR hosing and that means leaks if it's not properly fastened.

i have the same swap in my 98 civic..im guessing u bought the complete changeover including axles, shift linkage etc...
what you will need:
Mounts
99-00 SI driver side motor mount bracket
99-00 SI Rear "L" bracket
the rest of the mounts and brackets will work
Wireing
use ur civic harness and modify it to fit (if u want it to look stock, take ur stock harness and rip off all the black stuff covering the wires and plug it all up on the b18c...this way u dont have to cut and splice wires...now the wires that still dont reach, just cut, solder, and heatshrink...after ur done put all the black covering back on and use electrical tape and take it all back up nicely.)
Staying JDM or USDM
JDM - if ur gonna stay JDM u DO NOT need to hook up secondary o2, Evap purge solenoid, CFK
USDM - YES u will need to hook up everything
Headers
buy wutever u want
Exhaust
im not so sure but if u buy an exhaust for ur car and a test pipe, then it should fit.
Radiator
you can use your stock radiator if you want or get an aftermarket
ECU
i dont noe wut year motor you bought so im gonna guess its OBD2A...since ur car is OBD2B your gonna need a jumper harness from OBD2B to OBD2A...if you are going OBD1 then you are going to need a OBD2B to OBD1...
Something about 37mm to 32mm bolt
i think they are talking about ur axle nuts which on ur car would be a 32 mm..
axles, tranny, shift linkage, tranny bracket, ecu
use wut came with your motor
hope that helps

Re: (ekb16)
cool, that is a lot of help
just what i was looking for
now what are the differences between the wiring?
is any combo better than another or is it only considering the difficulty of hooking them up?
