i lost my power steering.. dont know whats wrong
today i just lost my power steering. in the beginning of the day, as i was backing out of my driveway, turning was a little difficult. but at the end of the day, turning was real hard. as i turn the wheel to the left side, there is a hissing noise coming from the firewall. i checked the power steering fluid and its fine. when i have the car on, the fluid in that reservoiur is moving but there is no foam. i dont know whats wrong. would it be the pump or the rack itself?
p.s. over the winter time, i got stuck in the snow alot. to get out, i had to move the wheel back and forth a lot of times for me to get out.

Power steering is overrated. Take it out.... 
But anyway, if its been through snow drifts and salt, the boots may have broke and seeped in. Sounds like your rack might be messed up.

it might be the rack itself. what about the belt? is it still there? dumb question but it might be overlooked
