Default i know, another heater problem...

I dont know what the deal is with my car. The heat just wont get hot. It will get luke warm on the high way, but never hot like my coupe did. I had a d15 in my 93 hatch before, and it took forever to warm up, even changed to a warmer temp thermostat. anyways, i ended up taking my d16 from my coupe and putting it in this hatch, and now it takes longer than normal to heat up than it did in my coupe. Same radiator, same thermostat. I checked the valve on teh heater core hose and it is open when set to hot inside.

  • I flushed the heater core, and flows very freely...
  • changed thermostat (by changing motors, which was wokring perfectly when motor was removed) kinda on the third thermostat now.
  • checked the valve in the engine bay,
  • all linkage under the dash seems to be working correctly.
  • WHen moving the temp control, you can hear the blend door opening and closing.
  • recirc, and fresh air door works,
  • blower motor works and is blowing air, just not cold air.
  • Car is taking longer than expected to heat up.
  • motor heats up slower than it did in my coupe, but the temp eventually gets to mid level and stays.

You checked the linkage that comes from your firewall and controls the valve that lets coolant into the core right? My linkage fell off and the heater never got hot. Also having bubbles in your collant will do the same. Purge it of air. Is your radiator cap broken?

It's funny that you ask this question cause I have a funny true story that goes with this. I have the same problem with my 94 Dx coupe and just couldn't find anything wrong with it so I ask my Auto instructor. My Auto instructor told me that like 20 years ago, when he used to work for a Honda dealer, he called into the honda support team to see if they had tips to help him fix this civic that was not getting up to temperature during the winter. They told him that the civic was not made to be driven in Wisconsin like weathers..........hahaha, and I really don't think my instructor would lie to me.
