I just got into an accident. Is my car totaled?
I just rear ended a 96 Saturn. His car seems fine, but my car is a different story. The front bumper, front si grill, headlights, fenders, and the hood is pretty fuked up. Also the frame behind the front grill was bent towards my engine, so i was wondering if my car is going to be considered totaled?

probably not, but if your car was old like a 88-91 then it would be. but your insurance is the judge.

It's a 2000 Civic Hatchback. I just thought that if the frame was damaged in any way then your car is totaled.

I can gurantee they won't total that... If you don't have any custom parts (front end or headlights), the damage can probably be fixed for less than $3,500.... Most insurance companies won't total a car unless you do damage that exceeds 75% of the value of the car... They'll replace the bumper cover, bumper, grille, upper tie bar, headlights, and hood if it's even bent a little bit... I would, however, suggest that you demand original Honda parts... My insurance company says that they won't use genuine Honda parts... I had to pay the difference between the shitty parts and the genuine article... But it's worth it... Everything fits so nicely... Sorry to hear about your luck... If you'd like to see what happens when you hit a guardrail at 55 with a '98 Civic EX, let me know... lol That was $8,500 in damage...

I did the same thing in my del sol, only I hit a 95 cadillac with a metal bumper. We all know who the winner of that bout was. It cost me about 2700 for hood, bumper, lights, front impact beam(metal mount for lights, bumper, etc.), and paint for it and the rest of me car.
Not having a metal bumper sux.

try and get tat whole depreciation of value thing too and then you can upgrade. it is usually a sum of 15% of the total damages that you get to keep because wrecking your car is lowering it's value. You may not want to try it since it is your fault but it might be worth a chance if they won't give you OEM parts or you want a CF hood or something

This accident sucks. I was looking at another accident on the same road involving a Honda Accord and a truck. The Accord didn't even look like an Accord. Then all of a sudden BOOM. I couldn't even really see because my hood was crushed making it stick up. I felt like **** at the time, but i feel a lot better now. I'm so glad that my car isn't going to be totaled because i had so many plans for it. I will probably have a lot of money left over after fixing the car, so that's the only good thing about all this. Does anybody know how much my insurance rate will go up from this accident?
