I hit a freaking curb tonite.
Yes, I was being stupid and did not estimate the safe speed for going around a sharp turn. I ran into a 7 inch cement curb at an angle and now the wheel is completely bent back up against the wheel well. I parked it because it was about 20 feet from my house and 3 am...lol I have not had a chance to look at it in the light yet, but does anyone have a good idea of what all im going to need to replace in the morning? Axle? Suspension arm?

Check all the suspension, and after you replace the wheel and you can drive it again (carefully), you'll be able to tell how out of whack things are. You may need an alignment again too.

I'm willing to bet you have some subframe damage under there. That won't surprise me. After you take a look and visually inspect everything, go get an alignment. If they can align it then you might be in the clear. If they can't adjust the toe then you have subframe damage which will cost about $500 to fix. Sorry bro.

95 ex civic. I looked at it about an hour ago and the axle is bent back about 3-4 inches. My rim has a huge dent, but that is the least of my worries. I was going about 25 slid into and bounced off the curb. I have never understood what exactly the re-alignment will do?

Most likely the toe was pushed way out of spec. The re-alignment will fix that if it's possible for them to do it.

$500? Why so much? I hit a curb a couple rear ago in my 95 Accord EX and had to replace my rear beam of the front subframe and it only cost me $125 for the part from the junkyard. I'm sure the same part for the Civic costs about the same.

Well a shop will charge around $500 to put the car on a frame machine, determine how far it is out of spec and pull it back into spec. God knows how much Honda would charge for that.

Really depends on what bent. A lot of stuff over there can get smashed and bent and etc. If you can get it up in the air, maybe you can get digi pics?
Get a new rim first of all.

I will need to replace my axle first, correct? It is bent back a few inches. Then try the alignment?

oooh, you meant the frame, not subframe. Yeah, to have your car checked and straightened is going to cost you but I dought he meesed up the frame.

When I messed mine up I tore a the peice where the LCA bolts to the subframe. I could actually see the metal had torn. I had to replace my rim, LCA, radius rod and subframe. My tie rod and axle were fine though. I also heard you can damage the wheel bearing from an impact like that. I did a complete brake job at the same time so I replaced the bearings as well and I don't remember if they looked bad or not when they were removed.
edit:
again this was in my 95 Accord EX so parts like the radius rod aren't on the Civic.

Re: I hit a freaking curb tonite. (TouringAccord)
you got 2 routes...
(1) find a fifth gen wreck at the junk yard and replace everything in its path..
or if you plan on keeping the car for a while you can
(2) start with new aftermarket axles, lower control arms, rim/tire at the least..
but if it was hard enough it could lead to ... wheel bearings, tie rod, tie rod end and suspension..
why don't you post up a pic so we can see what your dealing with

I dont know if you can tell anything from these. You can tell the axle is rubbing on the control arm I think... I took the car off the jack and put the donut back on because i am having it towed to my house. What do you think?
