I have two issues with my ek
I have a 96 civic ex with only 85K miles (in sig)
1. When i take off from the line with high rpms, or if i launch it at high rpm while rolling backwards a little bit, the rpms shoot up, and the car acts like its in neutral, and than i smell the wonderful clutch for miles. (i don't think its the clutch because the car inguages the gears fine though out)
2. Sometimes when i put the key into the ignition to start the car up, the key gets stuck inside, it gets so hard, that i can't turn it in either direction, i have to use all my might and force it to on than its fine.

But, no its not the setting wheel lock, the key just gets jammed in the ignition, and doesn't budge.

Maybe you should stop treating the transmission as you listed and stop riding out the clutch for awhile and see if it makes any difference. If I were the car, I would lock up the ignition too in fear that you were going to put my a-- into that much work
i drive like a normal human being on daily basis.
like once a month i get the urge to go racing, and i do a couple of races here and there thats it.

Anyway, are you the original owner of the car? Maybe the other person treated it like crap, I have a pre-owned car and I get that same clutch smell sometimes when I back out of the driveway (reverse, uphill at about 2-3k rpm). I have never solved the problem, but I also haven't smelled it in quite some time.

2) The stuck key thing is a factory defect. They have a TSB out on that problem. See your dealer...

MY dad used to get that in his audi (the key thing). A couple days he had to leave it running cause he couldnt get the key out. Later he tried and it was easy.

you said there was a crunching noise....a crunching noise might mean your synchros in the tranny are starting to go out....

Re: I have two issues with my ek (sshaikh01)
the car acts like it is in neutral because you are riding on the clutch so bad and that smell means that you have burnt the clutch. Maybe you need a little more practice on hills.
