Default I have in my opinion (besides ITR with JDM nose) the tightest body style (1996 civic CX HB), weak mo

I have a 1996 Civic HB, Lt green it looks tight. Im new to this import game, but im no ricer. Im tryin to keep it clean and JDM syle (pricey). I got the car cheap cause the previous owner screwed up 2nd gear ( need a new tranny anyway). So my Questions are; whats my cheapest total b-series swap an dmost bang for my buck, or would it be cheaper to get my tranny fixed and NOS ( ZEX 500 bones, NOS 500, Venom 699) that lil 107hp jr rice kicker? If so, where can I get a cheap used tranny 4 it? thanks yall.

It would be cheaper to just fix the tranny, but you have to know what you want before you go buying stuff. Will a Dx motor with a little shot of nitrous be enough for you? If not then you may want to consider a swap, but it is going to cost you considerably more money to do. Check your local junkyard for trannies, or check the classifieds forum on this board. I hope this is of some help!

Go B16A. It'll be the cheapest and it'll still yield sub 7-second 0-60 times with correct installation.

Soup to nuts should run max $3500.

just my $.02

i agree with dragon here. i may want to drop in a typeR angine in there, while someone else will tell you to get a GSR or H22. it's basically all up to you, save the money and do what ever you think is best for you. if you're just looking for the cheapest swap, that would IMO be the B18B LS engine. about JDM, if that's what you want your car to look like go for it, if you're doing it just because everyone else is, or because it sounds "cool" and it's popular don't waste your money.
good luck to you though.

when I say "JDM" I just mean I want to keep my car simple. Im not really into all those wild body kits and wings. I just kinda want my car to be functional and fast. In fact, the only thing on my car that will be "JDM" is my body kit ( Type-R). All that other stuff is really not that important to me. Thanks for your info tho.

i own a 99 cx hatch basically the same car as yours. i swapped my tranny for a 92-up ex trans that is a pretty good upgrade as it doesn't have the long gears like your stock tranny does. if u look around u should be able to find one pretty cheap. i like the d-series and i think it has alot of potential in it. it's really up to u in terms of what u want to do swap or build the d-series up a bit. and if u look around u can find a used nitrous kit for well under 500 buks.

i agree with most the people her i just bought a b18c1 engine and i already have people telling i did the wrong thing i should of went with the h22a or the b16a it depens on what you want do you want to spend money or not is this going to be a life time ordeal or just hobbie that u got into bc of your friends or the movie fast and the feariess so it all about you and your style not others we can help you though and guide you and tell you what are view is thers the trends out there then there is the not trends so you pic if you want to be in the crowd or be unique and do what you want to do. the b16 is not a bad motor you just got to wait to mod it that it if u want engine that has power and you can just go out and race right now then go with the h22a and then save your money to mod it up or if you want some thing with alittle more power and not so much damn money the the b18's will do for you and you can mod it up on your way. I say go with a swap bc later on youll have to do it anyways bc u stock motor and trany wont last that long.

money got every thing to do with the game spend it wisley
