Default I have a d16y5 HX what should I do.

I was looking at a swap for just the head and putting an EX head on it or I was also looking at the B20b out of the CRV. I was told that you use something off of that to make the frankenstein but I do not know. I was just wondering has anyone tried to put the V6 out of a new accord into a civic and will it fit. Also I was told that the HX head is roller and that with the right mods it can desimate the EX head so if you have any info please let me know because I need you help. Thanks Alot

I'm pretty sure you can do an EX head conversion on an HX...

B20B crv motor you can use the whole thing and bolt it in...

V6 accord motor will not fit in a civic...period...unless you build a custom frame for the engine bay and lots of other custom ****

Do you know of anything that I can do to that HX head to make it better like I have been told?

just keep the hx head. get an ex tranny first. here read this: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=101349 also check this out: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=335078

you need to make some decisions before you buy anything: na d series, turbo d, or swap something in. don't waste money on a motor you're gonna rip out, or parts you will replace with turbo stuff.

Yea...I have the same setup, only I have added a Lightspeed header and NOS. Works pretty good..but needs EX head, tranny and ECU.

I am turboing mine. As someone said, decide which route you are going first, then look at mods. Besides not wanting to swap, my biggest reason to turbo the HX was because not many do it, then peopel complain about their not being HX info out there, but dont take the time to pionner this bastard of a stepchild engine...

From what I've read, the Y5 head is pretty cool - it's the only roller head that Honda offers for Civics if not any other model. However, it runs lean due to the ECU, if I'm not mistaken.

Definately get the EX tranny. Dont worry about swapping the intake manifold out cause the hx ecu basically will not allow it. (THANKS SPADE) Just let your car breathe with an intake and exhaust. I would keep the hx head, people are figuring out more and more stuff about the head everyday.

For turbo information for the d-series check out http://www.turbod16.com

Dide SPADE say why??? I was SOOO close to buying an EX IM but decided against it because 1) I wasnt too sure of the benefits of it and 2)I was hesitant to spend that kind of money on a forum that is new to me and plus a myriad of other little reasons (like $75 is injectors or oil lines or a turbo manifold adapter, etc)

no you can't use the whole motor, the tranny is 4 wheel drive and the intake manifold doesn't clear the hood, yes is does just bolt in but just the block and head will work

what you need is the B20 block with any VTec and any other b series tranny(all itr would be the best but $$$)

and who needs real vtec... any man with real ***** to take a car so far with, N/A

If you were referring to my sig....I'll take that as a compliment. I applaud your efforts to to go N/A. I.....on the other hand have experienced boost and prefer to take the cheaper route to more power. I am glad having an N/A car makes you feel more masculine. Thanks for trying though

yes another up and coming boosted HX!! keep us informed how it goes. i planne on boosting mine this spring when i get my income tax money back. i think the hx head is better because of the roller rockers. less loss of frictional hp. ex tranny helps. i just put one in mine and love it!! also the intake cam lobe is bigger than the one in the ex.

I hear ya on waiting for the income tax. Im goin to just start piecing everything together. Im in no hurry but Im shooting to have it done by the end of summer. THat is the only time I can make some real money while being in school.

I love the ex tranny. I dont mind the gas mileage but it is definately quicker.
