I think it was the 94-95 D15B8 that only has 2 valve reliefs per piston, making a mini-me swap impossible. You would have to have a 92-93 D15B8.

Though, I don't understand why you guys are acting like a D15B8 mini-me is a bad thing...

Because a b8 came stock with 78 HP. Vtec will bump it up to what 85-95? Your gaining what? 5 mph top end? maybe .1 second off your qm And you spent how much time and money?

I personally like these motors

f22a1 ( good cheap motor ) - 400$ at your local junk yard.
h22a1 ( Dart or GE sleeved 2,000-2,500$ though )

You do realize that a mini-me swap only costs a couple hundred bucks and a few hours to do, right?

A mini-me swap will bring it to about 125HP, btw... (if we were talking about the 92-93 D15B8 of course, since the 94-95 is not possible to do the mini-me swap due to the pistons)

IIRC, a 92-93 D15B8 block is nearly the same, if not exactly the same, as a D15B7 block. The only reason a D15B8 has so much less HP than a D15B7 is because the D15B8 has half as many valves as a D15B7. A D15B7 mini-me makes about the same as a D16Z6, so a D15B8 mini-me would too.

Please refrain from posting if you are only going to spout nonsense.

125 HP LOL ON A B8? Lol Maybe on the B7. But never on the b8 FYI.

Spend what 250$ and 6 hours of time for a novice or more. Wow you still cant out run my d16z6 project car stock.

if your going to spend money, invest it not waste it.

Motor Swap = Invest ment

B8 Mini me = Waste

A D15B8 and D15B7 mini-me should yield nearly the same results. Please see my edit in my post above.

You are starting to sound really arrogant and ignorant.

Well, I just looked it up and it's official. Right down to the crankshaft, pistons, rods, and cylinder block assembly, the D15B8 (1992-1993) and D15B7 have the same part numbers. Therefore, a D15B7 and D15B8 mini me should yield the same results.

what about Everyone STFU. The D15B8 with a VTEC head will make the same power as a B7 with a VTEC head. And guess what, thats more power than a Y8 or Z6 makes. Actually its been shown that a B7/B8 Block with a Y8 head makes close to 140HP as it has a 10.4CR.
What people dont understand about the D series motors is the power is all in the head. Better heads make better power. The only reason that the CX Motor makes so little power is because of the **** 8 Valve head which is for low RPM power. Swap it to a 16 Valve head and it will make the same power as a B7. Swap it to a VTEC head and it makes more power than the VTEC motors do stock because of the higher CR.

I love how people who have no experience with Single cams pipe in to talk **** and discourage people who have the right ideas. Go ahead and do it, you will love the new power that you have. Personally I would run Midgrade or get a Adjustable FPR and turn up the pressure by a few PSI because the P28 ECU is programmed to run a 9.2CR D16Z6 and not a 10.4CR Frank'd motor. So you should richen it up a tad just to avoid any issues with leaning out down the road.

i have the d15 block with the z6 head. its not a bad set up for what it is. i can hang with my friends sentra se-r. so i would say if you got the stuff go do it. i had never given any thought to the adjustable fpr tho i just thought the p28 with the fuel and ignition maps for vtec would be fine. think theres any power to be had by richening it a tad?

It won't make more. It will make pretty much the same. All the slightly higher CR does is make up for the difference in displacement.

Yes actually my friend had one dyno'd and the for added a bit of power. Although the p28 might be able to richen it up a bit so that it runs fine the only way to make it run perfect is with a fpr or running midgrade.

The displacement difference is not what limits the power. Look at a d15b it has a z6 head on it and it makes the same power as a z6 with .4 more CR or the same power as a y8 with the same CR. it's all about the head. 1 whole point of CR is what makes it make more. As it gas the head and a higher CR.

No... it won't be 10.4:1. It won't even be 10.1:1 (the number you get with a D15 block, D16Z6 head, and a thin Y8 headgasket (only 2 of the layers))
