i have 2 questions speed -sensor-/-egr valve-
so my speedo whenever i turn my car on or even just to accessory the needle jumps to 40 or 60 and stays there, or if im slowing down it shoots back and forth between 40 and 60 moving up and down as i stop then when i go again it stays still between them, works once in a blue moon- Any ideas? vss or maybe a bad wire or shorted cluster? and my egr valve has p0401 can this be because the speedo is reading 40 or 60 at all times and is ****ing up the flow in the egr, thats what someone told me but i dont know if it makes sense? - thanks

speedo's commonly fail on these cars. i'd bet that's probably what's wrong with yours. do you have a code for the vss and does your cruise control still work? if no code and the cruise still works then that means the vss signal is fine, and the cluster is poop. if your cruise doesn't work and you do have a vss code, then its definitely the speed sensor.

No codes for the vss just the egr code, and I have no cruise control I guess it doesn't come in a hx

oh drr i guess i didn't take into account you might not have cruise lol, my bad.
well if the vss had failed you would have a code for it. because you don't, the gauge cluster itself is very likely at fault.
