although it is a nice car and nice build up.. the guy forgot the cardinal rule of cars... you will never get what you put into it if you modify it!!!

i don't see a BAR sticker anywhere.... if you want to transfer titles, you NEED TO PASS A SMOG CHECK. Buyer beware!

That car would never be BAR'd. The b20 is considered a light/small truck motor, it is illegal to swap non same-class motors in Cali.
Any buyer would have to be from an outside state. That's probably why no one wants it... that and $8500 is way to much for a stock car with b20/vtec.

Re: i got a question about a car on ht... (d16y8EL)
i love how all of you know nothings talk ****...
I'd say 2% of the motors in cali are bar'd.. which makes the other 98% illegal. But that never stopped anyone from paying extra to pass smog...
The car is clean as hell, and i have vouches for that from the people who have come to check the car out, and the friend's of myne who have seen the car grow from stock to what it is now.
I have a list of all the cash that i've put into it and that totals over $14,000 .. BUT DID I ASK FOR THAT??? Nope.
By the way... i don't know what kind of **** that one guy was saying about 4k for a car like myne. Go ahead and look on recycler for cars my year with a clean title and air conditioning, with full options... They go for over 5k all day long. Sure maybe you'll come up on a deal on one every now and then, but for a car in the condition myne is in... it would be pretty hard.
Oh and to the guy who posted:
Wow, that dipshit is going to own that civic for the rest of his life. No one is dumb enough to pay 8500 for that.
My response is yeah, nobody as cheap as you.. which is about 60% of honda-tech .. People like you sit at your keyboard and log onto honda tech, and BAM! you think you are the owner of kelly blue book, with ASE certification to boot.
to haters with no money.
The motor has never been abused.. i have vouches for that as well.. people know how i treat my cars. I build them right and drive them right. I never abuse them like some people do, and i also know safe limits if i want to push on it a little bit and have some fun. PLUS tuning is a major factor, and I am a firm believer in tuning. it can make or break a setup and completely change the life of your motor and how it performs.
The b20vtec conversion that i did was done right, and when you do a hybrid right and don't just throw it together it costs alot more money than you'd think. Plus it makes it a whole hell of alot more reliable. ESPECIALLY since everything (timing belt, water pump, oil pump, etc...) has been replaced with oem honda parts, which is also a pretty damn hefty expense.
If you hate, go ahead and hate, but damn people, at least try to sound like you know what the **** you are talking about and not just spout out some random useless ****.

No ****! I have bought and sold cars in Cali that had motors that were not bar'd. It's not hard to get you car to pass smog, so you can sell it. I have a 97 Coupe with a 89 B16 in it, I can easliy get a smog cert. so I could sell it.
Furthermore, that's a clean little hatch, someone will pick it up
Good luck on the sale.

Labor is counted in what you have invested in the car, but not for the sake of selling it. Those same enthusiasts your trying to sell it to are the same enthusiasts who are DIY'ers. The only time that labor *might* be considered part of it is if the job was done REALLY professional. I mean show car professional. Then you would count the 'extended' labor (beyond what it normally takes to do a ________ -insert project here-) Example, if you were talking to your friend about how much it costs for all the **** in your car, you might say, '$14k'. But if you got your car stolen and needed to claim all the **** inside it you would tell your insurance co., '$8k'.
