Re: I GOT THE CEL 5 MAP - manifold absolute pressure sensor (joy123)
I had a code for my map sensor ( i think it was manifold absolute pressure higher than expected) and it made my car run super rich, came to find out the sum 1 who had the car be 4 me had cut the wiring and put another harness that plugs into the sensor so i just went to a local junkyard (took me forever too) and re-connected the new harness and ran like a champ.....

Hmmmm Im just lookin for a MAP sensor i can replace it and the hoses, will probably fix the issue, they arent hard to find, go to the junkyard and get one really cheap. Cleaning doesnt sound like a bad idea either. use the search option, and browse, ill post if i find it.

What car (year and model) and which engine (year and model). Usually a code is a basic wiring issue from slightly different model years. It is actually rare for the sensor to go bad.

Re: (joy123)
go to the junkyard, find a d series engine, take it off of tht, if you have dpfi, any dpfi sensor will work i assume. Most all D series parts are interchangeale, and if you get it and it doesnt work, it iwll not blow up your engine or ruin your car, just give it a try, dont hesitate to work on it.

It runs perfect because it is in limp mode, dumping tons o fuel in there. If you do not have a map sensor on your throttle body that means you have an engine that uses a firewall mounted map sensor with vacuum lines running to the TB. Their is a great pic on http://www.ff-squad.com, link to their technet and scroll down to firewall map. Your car should have the map wiring going to the engine harness but the engine harness does not have the wiring so you will have to splice it in. I will try to see if I can pull the color of the wires up.

Ok I did a quik check and the map sensor wires on the sensor should be white green yellow. Those need to go to the 14 prong shock tower harness you should see a white green and red coming chassis side to the connector but no adjacent wires on the engine harness side. (Option 2 )If you want to take them straight to the ecu it is the top far right three, colors should coordinate. Make sure to do this with the battery disconnected. I am not totally sure on the red wire but you will see that 3 lines go to the connector but not out the other side, that is key.

Foxtrot, yours may be a little different your map wiring is probably coming directly through the firewall under the battery tray. I say this because your pic looks to be a crx or ef. I am not to familiar with that exact setup. My posts refer to eg issues.

If your chassis has it running under the battery tray do not worry about the engine harness deal that I was speaking of. Looks like you have a euro version or something that I am not the most familiar with. Basic follow the wires back to the ecu check for breaks in the wiring or loose connections. There is a great diagnosis in the Helms manual if you can afford one or find one to download. You may want to check for vaccuum leaks to the throttlebody. You should also change that 30 amp fuse back to a 10 amp fuse, that is just asking for more electrical problems down the line.

Helms instruct-- engine warm and running, code 3 indicated,
shut car off pull underhood7.5amp fuse to reset ecu
start car, idle if no code (either intermtnt or fixed)
if code 3 again turn ignitn off, discon connector
from map sens, turn ignitn on(not start) measure
voltage between yel/(grn or red stripe) and body ground is there approx 5 volts?no -repair open in map sensor yel wire and ecu(d19). if yes- measure voltag between yellow and green.is there 5v.
if no--repair open between green and ecu(d21)-just edited
if yes measure voltage between wht and green. is that 5volts
BASICALLY it does go on but if you are at this point you need to trace wires between ecu and map sensor. The map sensors plugs on the ecu are the three top far right when looking at the ecu plugs with the lid up find where they go and you solve it.

Re: (Endo-land)
i download the repair manual, and for code 5 i tried every thing except the harness test. because i dont have any testing harness. i did change back to 10 amp. and reset the ecu, the cell light doesn't come straight way. some times it go away and car run strangely, like hasitat and stop engine if i dont give gas.
do u think it could be the harness and connection?
but if i change the 30 amp back, its run champ like now, no problem at all for few week!!!!!
