I dont think my Vtec pops...
I have a 97 coupe ex model.
d16y7 in it.
When is vtec supposed to engage? 5200?
Well i hear nor feel a difference in power when in that range of rpm.
I've been in a single cam vtec and i actually heard a difference....Not too much of a power difference though...I'm going to build my single cam soon so i just wanted to know why the vtec wouldn't be popping...
I have oil so its not low oil..

First of all there are like 4 or 5 things that have to happen for vtec to kick in and that is 1.operating temp (closed loop) 2. set rpm (which should be around 5-5.5k 3. its like 52 or 57psi of oil pressure ( so just having oil dosent make it work) 4. vss has to be showing at least 11mph. I think that is it but a little more on the oil pressure thing, my homie's vtec was coming on and off and it took forever for him to realize that there was a small dent in oil pan not allowing the pickup to get enough oil to build the right amount of pressure so as you can see there can be a little more then just having oil and that list dosent even cover stuff like wiring, solenoids, switchs, etc. etc. but maybe that might help you. good luck
