I dont know what the problem is...
Whenever I begin to move or come to a nearly complete stop I hear a noise coming from under the dash area near the where the axles would be. It only occurs when I'm in 1st gear and when i come to a stop. What may be the problem?

oh....my....god
youre putting it in neutral right?
i hope so, if not prepare to be burnt to a crisp
you cant have a stopped car in gear without stalling/sputtering

What kinda noise, describe it and someone will recognize it. Could be any of the part you mentioned, the dash itself vibrating, the axel parts worn out, the brakes worn out.

I would describe the noise as a kind of "tigtening" noise. It's not the same as an "axel click"...i would recognize that sound.

have you done anything to the car recently?
you're being so vague, it's impossible to say what it could be.
the first thing i would check is the torque on your lug nuts.

hmmm i know when my civic and my prelude come to a stop i had a sound but it ended up being my heat shield go under your car with the engine off and shake your exhaust some see if you hear the noise if so problem solved if not no clue
some questions for you tho
did you do an engine swap? are you running the right axles on it?
did you change your axles? did you change the seals?
it could be the spring in the rubber seal that is rubbing on your axle teeth that is the best i can thing of because i don't know what a tightening sound sounds like

.....and you've checked the axles to be sure ? Seems like slowing down is often when CV joint problems are audible.
