Well, I was able to get the passanger side out of the tranny pretty easy with a crowbar.

But, I've tryied everything on the driver's side and it will not budge!

I even tried an air hammer no luck !

My favorite trick is to never use an air hammer. Ever. Seriously, how did you think that would help? I hope you didn't damage the inner splines.

I know you've tried a crowbar, but try to get leverage from a different point. Your axles work the same as everyone else's...you just have to find the right angle from which to pry. Keep at it. You'll get it

yeah.... its neutral..... but damn.... I guess I just can't find the spot.

it all depends on if it has an intermediate shaft, if not then just pry it out like you would the pass side.
If it does then that means if that axle has been in the intermediate shaft (IS) it has become spot welded to it. that means your gonna have to get a BFH or big ****** hammer, and beat the living **** out of the inner cv cup at a 90 degree angle to get it out. just try this, hit hard, spin, hit hard, spin, hit hard, pull. it will eventually come out. trust me man ive had some bad ones where it took me 6 or 7 hours, just hope its not that bad.

get a long flathead screwdriver and it it from the other side of the transmission

I would most definitly keep going with the air hammer, that's the way to go (just keep me posted on what happens)!

I used two crowbars on each side.... it worked that way

Are you kidding me? I use an air hammer on halfshafts all the time, never had a problem and I've done well over 500 of them.

Why would you ever need to use an air hammer to get a Honda axle out? You can practically disengage them from the transmission with a good tug. If you have a $19 set of Craftsman prybars, you should be able to get the car up on jackstands, remove the suspension and take the axles out in less than half an hour.

How exactly do you people use an air hammer on axles anyhow?

For one, I never said I work on Hondas did I?

I'm a REAL tech, unlike a lot of the know it all morons. So here is a bit of info for you. Pulling on a CV joint shortens the life of it and can also break it. I use an air hammer at the back of the shell to vibrate it out of the trans. It's fast and causes no damage as long as you are not stupid about it.

I work for Lincoln Mercury. I'm ASE master certified with L1 and I'm a Ford Senior Master Technician.

Who needs to pull on the CV joint? All you do is stick the prybar in and pop out the axle.

If you need to use an air hammer theres something wrong, it should not be that hard to pop out an axle

Well it doesn't matter if you do or you don't because the topic being discussed involves HONDA axles. Give advice that applies to the application. It doesn't help to tell someone with a civic how to get axles out of a lincoln.

What are you trying to prove? Are you trying to say that I don't know what I'm talking about? You can use an air hamer on a Honda halfshaft just the same as I would on a lincoln. The goal is not to beat the halfshaft into submission with it but to simply vibrate it out of the trans. If you have a problem with the fact that I don't want to listen to morons make obtuse statements then don't go some where else.
