I was wondering what the average cost is to have a shop install a H22 in a 1992 Civic HB. Also how long was you guys out of your car? I know it will vary a bit shop to shop, just looking for a ball park price people charge so I know what to except. Thanks.

Well, if done by yourself it's approximately $4000 - go from there with local prices of per hour labor (I usually see $65/hour) and multiply it by 12 hours (just for an approximation). Use the search aswell - there may be a thread of someone that had a shop install their's. www.darksol.com may aslo have prices for a full swap - just check.

one of my friends just got his 95 H22a put into his 94 dx hatch. And OMG...... IT eliminates me from the competition, and i have a SIR2, yet i ahve stock civic mid-piping adn stock exhasut manifold. He's got a header and full exhaust. But not a daily driver in my eyes.

Well my buddie just did a H22 Ek. he spent just over 10k. But that was $3500 for the car. IT had NO interior! The wrong suspension. Yada yada yada...

He bought the H22 with a LSD shipped for $2600
$500 for the Mounts
He had no wiring harness in the car so had to buy it.... $125. Wiring OBDII to OBDI. $150....

From what I've seen from places the full swap usually goes for 2500.

oh, and you may want to replace clutch, flywheel, and throw out while its out

Checklist to prep new H22A hybrid

 R&R (remove and replace) Spark Plugs
 Remove Exhaust Manifold (header) & clean exhaust ports
 R&R Timing Belt
 R&R Water Pump
 Remove stock mounts & Transmission Studs
 Remove stock H22A Power Steering & A/C
 Remove Throttle Body
 Move Fuel filter towards battery in Civic engine bay and bolt in.
 Mount new HASport mounts and transmission studs to transmission
 Remove and mark (with masking tape) EVERY harness connector on where it came from/what it is & remove engine harness from H22A.
o Cut reverse light wire on transmission
o Cut Crank Position Sensor wire behind the block by the oil pan

 Take off and mark every single harness connector on where it came from/where it goes from both H22A and stock Civic engine harness
 Mount Civic harness on H22A and measure/modify wire to be lengthened/changed as follows
o Change fuel injector connectors to H22A type and add resistor pack from H22A harness to Civic harness (see diagram on page 4)
o Extend Alternator wires to reach the H22A alternator
o Lengthen and change oil sending unit (idiot light sensor) to reach H22A type
o Lengthen wire that goes to the starter solenoid on starter
o Attach reverse light sensor wire to the new H22A reverse light sensor wire
o (CX,VX only) add 3 wires to O2 sensor and follow o2 wires and change to Prelude O2 sensor connector
o (DX,LX,CX only) add wire to VTEC oil pressure sensor for ground (tap into Grn/Wht wire), ECU Signal (splice into Blu/Blk wire from firewall which leads to D6 pin-out on ECU) and VTEC solenoid valve to ECU (tap into Grn/Yel wire from firewall which leads to A4 pin-out on ECU)
o Knock Sensor (mounted at rear of engine near cyl head), add wire to harness to ECU Signal (tap into Red/Blu wire from firewall leading to D3 on ECU)
o (VX only) Air Intake Bypass solenoid – add two wires. Sensor voltage (tap into Yel/Wht wire) and ECU Signal (tap into Pnk/Blu from firewall leading to A17 pin-out on ECU)
o EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) System(required for USDM P13’s, JDM P13’s are optional). Five wires need to be added.
 EGR lift valve solenoid – sensor voltage (tap into Yel/Wht wire) & ECU signal (tap into Red wire from firewall leading to A11 pin-out on ECU)
 EGR lift sensor – sensor voltage (tap into Yel/Wht wire), ground (tap into Grn/Wht wire) & ECU Signal (tap into Wht/Blk from firewall leading to D12 pin-out on ECU)
