i am wanting to build my mini me,i need a few pointers...
ok,this is the deal.i just bought a eg with a boosted mini me swap.the turbo kit is kinda shitty, (homemade) it has the xs power t3/t4 turbo,xs power manifold, and xs power waste gate,it also has a greddy type s for the bov.it is currently running at 10psi.the car is decent but i would like it to handle more.from what i have seen in the past few days the engine seems to be low compression.i had to change the headgasket and i took a gander at the pistons, they are DEEP dish.what i am getting at is that i want to buy some decent rods but for a decent price, pistons, bearings, rings, etc etc.i do not want to spend a fortion but i want my single cam to handle a little more then what it has atm.so here are my questions.
what rods should i get?
what pistons?
what bearings?
will the timing belt be an issue?(maybe a stronger belt?)
i know that i will have to get some head work so i need some pointers there on what springs/retainers/valves to buy maybe some cams?
my price range will be around 2500.00 on the build,so i dont want to buy all top of the line stuff but nothing cheezy that will not last either.if you guys can point me in the right direction that would be great.my goal is to have a quick car not a stupid fast car,i want somewere around 220 whp maybe?if that is possible,i got a nice platform to work with but the motor needs to be a bit stronger for the boost i want to have if you get my drift.

you can do 220whp safely with a good tune with stock internals. with a build you are describing 300's should be your goal.

well i didnt think it was possible with just a tune.i have money to spend on this so i want to go ahead and get away from stock internals so that i dont have to worry about my rods being all over the road while driving downtown on sat nights.i want it to have the strength to hold more then 10psi and be safe while doing it.i could just swap to ls and be faster then the single cam but i want to have something differant then everybody around here.

Re: (Minglor)
i am thinking of just going ls now,i would like to stay with the mini me but i can just go ls and spend less money and be faster on a stock bottom end from what i hear.

On most d-series rods you will most likely be notching the block as well. Something to consider. Recommend eagle H-beam or Carillo are decent. ACL for bearings, cometic head gasket. z6 timing belt is fine.
Replace gaskets and seals to ensure no oil leaking and regular maintenace as part of your build.
Definately a good tune.
Personally b16 or ls/vtec would provide a stronger starting point since parts are about the same prices.

Re: (spcivic2004)
yes the ls is a slighty better platform to start from but, you'd be surprised at how close D number are to ls numbers. Well heres a helpful link to your ls quest

Re: (spcivic2004)
That thread made me keep the D. $900 saved from not muying the ls is what built the head sitting in my room. Full port and polish. Crower valve train, .5mm oversized crower valves, zex turbo cam and that will be mated to a built bottom end come spring.
