I am new please all the experienced people I need help
Hi, I am new here, I used to own a 95 prelude pretty much tuned. but decide to go with civic now. so I sold that and got a 93 civic ex coupe. here is my problem I know nothing about d16z6 engines, I don't know anything about SOHC profomence. and I've started to get parts trying to do slowly start from basic then look then detail. I am hoping to get some help in this great new board in my discovery.
I am getting INJEN intake. because I heard that you can't hear vtec unless you change a intake.
I got a prostique alarm set. but I don't know how to install it. if anyone can help me on that it'd be great.
I am wondering what's the cheapest amount I can spend for a whole car paint job to black or white. (the car is currently green)
I am interested to change the gauge color...need help on that.
i need to know the Factory SPEC of the car...again I never drove a civic before, this is the first time because of my friend telling me if you can beat DOHC with SOHC then you are good... so it's so tempting to try.
I do need some suggestion on parts. anyone who can educate me please do.
I appreciate any help at all (even just to bump this up)
I thank you guys in advance for your helpful knowledge and patients to type me the informations that I am looking for.

cheapest paint would be maaco. I got my car done for 350. Looks great, but just remember you get what you pay for. Maaco has a bad rep for most people, but I think if you go to the right shop, you can get a good deal for a good price.

you wont be able to hear the crossover much with intake. plus you dont needa spend money on a name brand intake (just my opinion). get some 40 dollar ebay cai.

IMHO: Don't waste your money on style...
Style comes with performance and cleanlyness.
I would like to ask you what you want out of your Civic? Drag race, auto cross, point a - point b, show? Find what you like then go for it. Learn as much as you can and stick around honda-tech, you will learn a lot!
Good luck.

Name brand intakes work just the same as a the cheap ones, I work at an audio and performance shop and we did some tests on different intakes and they are all really similar in flow characteristics.
If you looking for bolt on performance, header, exaust, if your new and want to make some serious mods go turbo. but I would wait and stick around here, these guys know there shiz and will teach you the skillz you need to know.
Guage color (do you mean reverse glow or indaglo guages) I have APC indaglo guages their resonable in price and their easy to install.
As for beating the DOHC's learn to drive well and find someone who cant drive at all...

For awesome SOHC info, use our search function and type in the user name Spade and search recent and archived topics in this forum by him.
He has a multi page SOHC tech topic that kicks much ***.
BTW really quick:
D16Z6 is a 1.6L, SOHC VTEC, with 125hp, 9.2:1 CR, has 16 valves, and also has the best 5-speed tranny of any 1992-1995 SOHC in terms of close gearing.
