i am about to change the head on my b20 to vtec
 

i know cuz of the way that b20 blocks work that i have to use oem cams but my question is wat is the diff. between us-spec and j-spec when it comes to cam ?

Why would you have to only use OEM cam options? That'd news to the All-Motor forum.

because the way the valves work with the piston cuz that i can't get bigger cams then oem thats what i been told ....

the stock pistons in your b20 don't have valve reliefs cut into the surface of the piston, meaning you can't run a really aggressive cam with those pistons because you could run into piston/valve clearance issues. the best thing to do is clay the motor and see what the clearance is before you put the engine together, and if there are issues, either modify the pistons and get it rebalanced, or just get new pistons. you can send an IM to t-bone or someone who knows from the all-motor section and ask what the biggest cam you can run before having issues are.

on a stock b20 block, dont go bigger than itr/ctr cams and you should be good. any bigger and you better clay the motor to make sure you have enough PTV clearance.

i have a b20 vtec with toda stage ones no problem at all
