hydrolocked ; can i look through the cylinder...
to see if my rods are bent? because what i am observing is that piston 1 & 4 are on the top and i noticed both pistons have the word inprinted "up" and that pistons 2 & 3 are just a bit tad lower than 1 & 4. Would that mean there is still hope for me? And that my rods arent bent?

No.

They are supposed to be that way. The cylinders do not all fire at the same time - only one at a time (I believe 1-4-2-3 is the firing order, someone correct me if I am wrong). Since it is a four-cylinder four-stroke engine, two of your cylinders are on their way down while the other two are on their way up. Of the two that are on their way up, one is compressing the fuel mixture and getting ready to fire while the other has already fired and is pushing the byproducts of combustion out through the exhaust valves. Of the two that are on their way down, one is drawing fuel mixture in through the intake valves and getting ready to compress it, while the other has just ignited the fuel mixture and was pushed downwards by the resultant rapidly-expanding gases.

Not really. There are other ways to determine whether your rods are bent. Someone who is more engine-tech-savvy than I am could probably elaborate on that. Maybe a compression test?
No.

Sadly compression test wont tell you if you have a bent valve. Best thing i know is to take off the oil pan and the crank and see if there bent. But then again if you take off the crank you might as well just pull them out. Hope you have a helms before you plan on doing this. If you dont and dont know the way of the rings DONT DO IT!!!!

well...i dried my motor the other day...and when i cranked it...it just slowly cranked like my battery was low. what could that possibly mean?
#7
I'm really 2slow
turn the crank pulley manually with size 19 i think to see if the cylinders get stuck while turning it. If they do the engine is out. An enigine I hydrolocked sounded like your description and it cranked slow due to a broken rod

Re: (trooper0641)
well...i just checked the depths of each piston by using a chopstick and marking where the depth of the chopstick. And what i found out was that...each cylinder seems to be about 5mm apart from each other like...1 & 4 would be off by 5mm instead of having it side by side. Would that matter? Are they both suppose to be equally aligned?

Hi all, I am sorry but when you guys saying hydrolocked, does that mean your car would not let you accelatrate when it is in rain due to the CAI? I had that happened to me couple days ago as the rain was so bad in my area and my car would not let me accelarate and it dies out all of a sudden. So I had to call in a tow and tow my car back home.
Then the car seemed to run normal without anything the next day. Since someone bought up this topic, I want to know if anyone can tell me if anything could possibly happen to my motor? By the way, after the car die out that day, I tried to start the car and it could not start and the engine and battery lights came out. So I turn it off and waited for like 10 while I was waiting for the tow car. After that 10 min., I tried to start the motor again, and it started that time but I felt the car was kind of shaking and then it started to idle as normal after about 30 sec. Then the tow car came and took us back home. After that and until now, the car is running like normal as the vtec kicks up strong.
So just want to see if there would be anything could happen to my motor that it may be hidden behind after that day? Yes, I am using a AEM CAI which I know it is bad for rain, but I did not expect that day to be raining.
Please let me know guys. Thanks

just drop your pan, oil sump, and take your rod caps off, pull your pistons out and inspect your rods if its too big a step for you have someone else do it.
how will you know if your too big a pussie to find out...
dont take it personal take it as constructive criticism.
ps: buy a manual

Just pull the rods out of the block. Its the only way to know if you have a bend rod.

Re: hydrolocked ; can i look through the cylinder... (Marauder)
Thanks for the replies. I think I am lucky that my car still runs great. Yea, I brought the car to a local shop in here and they said the CAI caused the problem, but it may not be neccessary the hydrolocked. Instead, as one of you said, it maybe the the vapor gets into it.
