Default hybrids + insurance = poop

Just a little heads up for you guys with motor swaps and or thousands of dollars of other mods. Let your insurance know when you install those parts. My car was stolen, stripped, and totalled. It was a 95 cx with tokico "full coilovers", cf hood, wilwood 4 pots, sir2 motor, yadda, yadda. I was paying insurance for a 95 cx, which is like $100 a month for me. Now, I'm looking at $3000 from insurance as compensation. I'm obviously arguing with them and have an entire presentation of all mods and pictures with receipts.

Moral of story: buy expensive stuff for inexpensive car, tell your insurance. Who cares if it's $30 more a month. If you're car ever gets jacked, you'll be VERY happy you let them know.

P.S. - Every insurance company insures what the vin number you give them tells them. They dont insure a hybrid, so don't think they do.

I plan on keeping my GSR swap to myself. I already paid my insurance for 03 which was 2 payments of $224 in December of 02.

I couldn't imagine what I would pay if they knew my car was going to have 170hp instead of the normale 70

Theft around here is not that common, so I am going to take my chances with the $40 a month insurance I have

Sorry to hear about your ride none the less!

yup. sorry to see the original post of your car. that was my friend's car who you bought it from. i don't think i'll turn in my mods to the ins. either since it's only like 60 bucks a month now...

did anything else ever turn up about that shop across the street from where you found the car?
