HX Wheel Makeover
Hey all, I personally think this is better in Appearance/Cosmetics but I don't post enough to be out of trial user status I guess.
I bought some sandblasted HX wheels recently and have started to polish the lip myself and will soon paint the center portion bronze. So I have a question and in an effort to get more posts so I can use all of H-T better I'm going to post my progress
The question is, do people clearcoat the polished lip or do they just leave it uncovered and polish it every once in a while with the aluminum polish?
Sorry no pics right now... I actually have some ready to upload but We Todd Did Racing is broken for new users and I'm not sure if there is a local upload for honda-tech.
I'll get the pics up as soon as possible... but could anyone answer the clear coat lip question? I'm finishing sanding the lips today and will want to paint tomorrow.
I'm using the Duplicolor primer, bronze wheel paint, and clear coat for wheels.
Thanks!

Re: HX Wheel Makeover (tranquil)
Cool thanks for the comments.. I didn't see your post. In putting on the clear should I clean off all of the polish and allow the clear coat to get the shine. I'm using a Nevr Dull Eagle One aluminum polish.
I don't know if that polish is just keeping the aluminum so clean that it shines or if it is actually adding a surface that will interfere with the clear coat adhesion.
Thanks for everyone's help.

Looks pretty good, me likey. Get some pink spooner or ray's lugnuts, or paint a set that color. Or blk, and it will be COOL!
Or you could leave it as is.

I painted the whole round H thingy RED, then use masking tape to cover up the H then i sprayed it with the gun metal then clear.
Rims have (4) Coats of Gun Metal Metallic (6) coats of clear
i Just sprayed till i ran out of product.

Re: HX Wheel Makeover (Phantastic)
Wow your wheels look great! I wish you posted earlier to help me feel more secure in my decision... I was nervous about trying this for a while because I hadn't seen anyone do it.

I think the next ones will come out more, but I know I'll need to buy more bronze for them.
