HX upgrades?
I search and couldn't find one thread about D16Y5 upgrades, which I found kinda odd. I'm picking one up as a daily driver for a deal and want to see what upgrades I can make to make it a little peppier for daily driving.
It already has a Z6 tranny, I have heard throwing a Y8 manifold on can help with better breathing as well, I also plan on installing a DX or EX exhaust with the cat in the traditional location and a header instead of the funky HX manifold.
Any other suggestions? I am not looking to do a Y8 head swap just yet, so anything short of that.

If you're gonna be buying a cat for the EX exhaust conversion i'd get a magnaflow direct fit high-flow catalytic converter for an EX.

that's my only suggestion at the moment

And if this were Zeroforum where the search function actually worked, I'd tell you that you didn't search hard enough because Bense posted a plethora of information on VTEC-E engine modifications several years back.

Re: HX upgrades?
As stated, don't wanna break open the motor, just looking to improve performance a little, I have a DA with a LS/Vtec on the bottle I built this last summer for going fast, this is just a commuter. If i wanted fast, I would boost it, and I wouldn't waste my time with the D series, I'd K swap it.
Back on topic though, I'll try to find that thread by Bense that was mentioned.
Again, the idea behind this car is a Commuter, not performance, I was just figuring I could make it a little less anemic with stock parts without breaking the bank. Thanks to the replies that helped.
