Default husky tools from home depot

hey i was adjusting valve lash today and had a socket on the crank pulley to help find TDC. I forgot to take the ratchet/socket off the crank before starting the car and the ratchet spun when I started the car. the ratchet broke and here's my question...

Do husky tools from home depot have a lifetime warranty? I'm pretty sure they do, and I have my receipt somewhere... I thought it said on the package that I could bring in a tool and get a replacement for free on the spot. That's why I bought them, even though they are cheap and shitty.

Anyone have experience with this? The ratchet head sheared right off, it is the exact same thing that woulda happened if I were over-torquing a bolt and the ratchet gave out.

The Husky site for example, says this:

"The Husky Lifetime Warranty guarantees your product against defects in material and workmanship. If a product is defective, Husky will replace it free of charge. Simply return the product to any The Home Depot store."

You just say you were trying to break a bolt loose and it broke, if they ask. If you know there's a warranty, why do you need to ask us?

because posting on the interwebs is good family fun we can all enjoy.

thanks for the words, all.

yep, the ratchet spun a half turn, hit the control arm, sheared off, and then fell to the ground. I was terrified when I first heard it, I don't have good experiences with loud noises from the front of my car after having things apart and reassembling.

I'll get down there tomorrow and tell them I want a new ratchet.

My local Home Depot wouldn't replace my tool. They said that it is past the 90 day warranty the Home Depot offers and that I have to send it into Husky to get it replaced. I needed it asap so I threw in the trash and went to Sears and got a craftsmen.

I use a husky ratchet for everything and maybe its just me but it feels much beefier than most of my craftmen tools. especially the craftsman "professional" floor jack. what a pos.

I will admit to doing that once. I left the 19mm socket and ratchet hooked to the crank pulley bolt, fired it up and damn, what a hell of a noise.

It was a craftsman socket and ratchet and it didn't get broke. This was over a year ago and I used that rachet 3 days ago

go kobalt, cheaper price than craftsman, great quality, and have warranty through lowes that you just bring it in and they give you a new one.
