Default Hub and Quick Release Installation

Searched like crazy and found a couple different threads from other sites of how to install the hub and quick release and I think i know how to do it but I have also seen many having problems with the install with alignment and horn an such. So i guess Im wondering if I should go to a local speed shop and have them assist me or if I should just go for it and see what happens.

It's not hard to do, and even if you mess up you can do it over again. I should be installing mine soon, so I'll post a guide once I do.

Yea, Im just a little hesitant to get it going. I dont wanna have to take it to get realigned because I just got it done you know. Theres a great write-up on JDMC but its for an S2K and there are no pictures, I figured it would be about the same though. That would be great if you could post that up. Thanks guys

there you go, even tells you how to keep cruise control
http://importnut.net/civicsteeringswap.htm
it doesn't show the quick release, but it's just 6 allen bolts on to the hub, then 6 allen bolts to put the other part of the QR on to the wheel

i did this a couple months ago and it was alot easier than I thought, just do it yourself man

and a pic to get you motivated

you can't throw off the alignment, if your steering wheel isn't straight it could be fixed. Alignment stays the same

Oh one more quick question. I've read that I'm supposed to disconnect the battery lines to prevent that bag blowing up in my face. True?

I just got my NRG QR today and when i press down on the button for the release nothing budges. Does there have to be a steering wheel engaged in the QR for it to release. I feel like a total idiot but I was just wondering. Thanks and sorry for the stupidity.

Make sure you wait 5-10 minutes to let the power drain after you disconnect the battery...some people forget about that

it was mentioned in the link

"You may want to disconnect the battery and wait about 15-30 minutes before you start this process. You risk having the airbag deploy and cause serious injury if you don't disconnect the battery."

Do they center align an aftermarket steering wheel the same way they center align a stock steering wheel?

(they being an alignment shop)

So is the QR supposed to release right out of the box? Or does it need to be installed and all that to do it?

it will release out of the box, but it's tighter since it hasn't been "released" before, plus it's hard to do with only 2 hands when it's not on the steering column
